National Director - Australia
Role: National Director - Australia
Location: Darlinghurst, Sydney New South Wales
The Royal Academy of Dance founded in 1920 in the UK is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations, dedicated to advancing the standards of dance education and teaching, and promoting and investing in the development of dance worldwide.
Upon the retirement of the long serving incumbent in 2019, the Academy is seeking to appoint its next Australian National Director to be based in Sydney. Reporting to the Academy’s Global Chief Executive in the UK, the National Director will lead the Academy’s strategic vision across its Australian operations and play a key role in its regional promotion to ensure financial sustainability and growth. The National Director will support 1300 RAD members and 900 teachers to ensure continued value for its membership base and quality in delivery of its varied programmes.
Critical to success will be relevant senior management and arts administrative experience in a cultural, not-for-profit, educational or membership organisation. Candidates will have the ability to build positive relationships internally and externally with teachers, school principals and students while ensuring the ongoing financial sustainability of the organisation. Events management experience and established senior networks with local government, venues and business communities are also desirable.
The role will require frequent travel within Australia and internationally for meetings or conferences.
As the post involves occasional contact with children and students under 18 years of age, criminal record clearance will be required for the successful candidate.
