Dance artist takes up residence in our Sydney Studios
Choreographer, educator, filmmaker and installation artist Sue Healey is our next Dance Artist in Residence.
At the end of 2016 the Royal Academy of Dance Australia and Ausdance NSW announced a ground breaking partnership for the RAD. Our Darlinghurst studios at RAD Australia HQ have signed on to host professional dance artists in creative development as part of Ausdance NSW's Dance Artist in Residency (DAIR) Programme.
According to Audance NSW the DAIR Programme is DAIR is "a direct response to the ongoing challenges of access to affordable and appropriate spaces to dance artists for the development of dance making and practice. DAIR activities may involve creative development, research, mentorships, rehearsal and remounting of work. Applicants can apply for a residency of one or two weeks."
Over the course of 2017 our studios will host a number of artists who might also share works in progress, open class opportunities and artists talks with RAD members.
This week the first artist to walk through our studio doors was choreographer, educator, filmmaker and installation artist Sue Healey. With over 35 years experience in dance and moving image her films have screened in over 30 countries and broadcast by Australian and European television networks. Her current work in progress is a collaboration with Australian dance legend Eileen Kramer who is still performing and creating works at aged 102.
We cannot wait to see the work when it is finished.
