			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Royal Academy of Dance appoints five International Advisors from Australasia, Asia, North/South America, Europe and Africa to advise the Board of Trustees in a voluntary capacity for a rolling, three year term.  A new set of Advisors have recently been appointed.</p>
<p>The Australasian Advisor for 2012-2015 is Professor Susan Street.  Professor Street has a long and celebrated association with dance and dance education as educator, administrator, advisor/consultant, guest speaker/lecturer, judge, writer/editor, choreographer and professional dancer.</p>

<p>World renowned choreographer Christopher Hampson, Patron of the 2012 Genée International Ballet Competition will be holding a master class on Saturday 7 July at New Zealand School of Dance.</p>
<h2>In Conversation with…</h2>
<p>Christopher Hampson will also be In Conversation at Royal New Zealand Ballet on Monday 9 July 2012 where he will be sharing his journey in dance so far, from RAD student aged 6 to Artistic Director of Scottish Ballet, a role he will take up this August. Christopher will discuss and show clips of his work and take questions from the audience, and the presentation will conclude with the opportunity to mingle over a glass of wine.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The 2011 Advanced 1 Bursary Final was held on 11 December at Melbourne’s Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School with adjudicators Kirsty Martin, celebrated former Australian Ballet principal artist and Audrey Nicholls, well-known and respected teacher and former RAD Graded examiner.  Class Teacher was Janne Blanch.  Finalists were:  Isobelle Dashwood (Qld – Alison Vallette); Emma Rumian (VIC – Jane Moore); Isabelle Bach (SA – Christine Underdown); Taylor Venter (WA –Samantha Leeman); Grace Robinson (NSW – Tanya Pearson); and Dann Wilkinson (NSW – Matthew Shilling / Elise Frawley).  The Bursary winner was Isobelle Dashwood who would like to acknowledge all her teachers – Andie Dashwood, Alison Vallette, Benita Whalley, Jennifer Young and Caroline Vandersee.  Isobelle is also a proud member of the Brisbane City Youth Ballet.</p>

<p>Recognised as one of the ballet world’s most prestigious competitions and the flagship event of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), the Genée International Ballet Competition, held at the Artscape Opera House yesterday evening (Sunday 9 October), finished in top form as the Final drew to an exciting close.</p>
<p>Crowned with success, the overwhelming public response was evident, with sold out performances of the Semi Finals and the Final with the support once again proving the competition’s reputation as a tour de force in the worldwide ballet scene.</p>
<p>The winners list is as follows:</p>
<p>No gold medals were awarded.</p>
<p>Winners of female silver medals are: <strong>Mana Ogawa</strong> (Japan) and <strong>Si Jia Miao</strong> (China)<br />
Winner of male silver medal: <strong>Jin Hao Zhang</strong> (China)<br />
Winner of female bronze medal: <strong>Ashley Scott</strong> (South Africa)<br />
Winner of male bronze medal: <strong>Mlindi Kulashe</strong> (South Africa)</p>
<p>The Audience Choice Award went to <strong>Jessica Brown</strong> (Australia)</p>
<p>As this year’s competition comes to a fulfilling close, bringing to light the young ballet stars on the rise, in a very successful return to London, the international ballet community looks forward to the next Genée International Ballet Competition in 2012 which Luke Rittner, Chief Executive of the RAD, announced would take place in Wellington in New Zealand, for the first time.</p>
